Theme: Peace That God Produces

Theme Scripture: Proverbs 16:7

“When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

Introduction

The opposite of peace is conflict, unrest, trouble, anxiety, and fear.

Today, many people spend their lives trying to win battles, defend themselves, and overcome opposition. Yet Scripture reveals a higher secret: when our lives please God, He steps in on our behalf and produces peace that human effort cannot achieve.

King Solomon, under divine inspiration, teaches us that a life surrendered to God attracts His favor and protection. God can touch hearts, calm storms, and bring harmony where there was once hostility.

Like a leopard resting peacefully beside a lamb, God is able to create peace in places where conflict once ruled.

Forms of the Enemy

Jesus said in The Gospel of John 10:10:

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”

Enemies can appear in different forms:

External opposition

Internal struggle

Spiritual attacks

Secret enemies

Ungodly systems and influences

Biblical Examples

Joseph suffered betrayal from his own brothers — family conflict.

Judas Iscariot pretended loyalty while planning betrayal.

Goliath opposed David and the people of Israel.

Satan tempted Jesus Christ in the wilderness — spiritual warfare.

Haman secretly plotted against the Jews.

Cain allowed jealousy and anger to lead him to murder Abel.

Characteristics of the Enemy

According to The Gospel of John 10:10, the enemy comes:

To steal

To kill

To destroy

Common Characteristics

Opposition

Hatred and bitterness

Conflict and strife

Deception

Desire to harm

Accusation and criticism

Destruction of peace and unity

The Gospel of Matthew 7:15 warns us:

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

And Book of Isaiah 57:21 declares:

“There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”

The Crux of the Matter

Scripture reveals a powerful truth:

When our lives are pleasing to God, He fights battles we cannot fight ourselves.

God can:

Touch hardened hearts

Calm troubled situations

Silence opposition

Bring peace where there was once conflict

Book of Proverbs 18:10 says:

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

1. Pleasing God Must Be Our First Priority

First Epistle of Peter 5:8 says:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

To please God means:

Yielding to His will

Walking in obedience

Living in humility

Remaining faithful

When we walk uprightly before God:

His hand rests upon our lives

Heaven responds on our behalf

Divine peace becomes our portion

We must never seek human approval while neglecting God’s approval.

Peace Is the Reward of Righteous Living

True peace is not the absence of problems;

it is the presence of God in the middle of them.

Book of Psalms 23:4 says:

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

And verse 5 declares:

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

Instead of focusing on defeating enemies, focus on pleasing God.

When your life honors Him, He can transform hostility into harmony.

Hymn 529 — Peace, Perfect Peace

“The Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means.”

— Second Epistle to the Thessalonians 3:16

1. Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin?

The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

2. Peace, perfect peace, by thronging duties pressed?

To do the will of Jesus, this is rest.

3. Peace, perfect peace, with sorrows surging round?

On Jesus’ bosom naught but calm is found.

4. Peace, perfect peace, with loved ones far away?

In Jesus’ keeping we are safe and they.

5. Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown?

Jesus we know, and He is on the throne.

6. Peace, perfect peace, death shadowing us and ours?

Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers.

7. It is enough; earth’s struggles soon shall cease,

And Jesus call us to heaven’s perfect peace.
